DESALINATION

Desalination

Desalination has been used for heaps of years, as Greek sailors used to boil water to evaporate fresh water far away from the salt, and Romans used clay filters to lure salt. Ultra-modern state-of-the-art techniques still commonly use the ideas of distillation or filtration.

Desalination is the method of removing salts or different minerals and contaminants from seawater, brackish water, and wastewater effluent, and it is an increasingly more common option to obtain clean water for human consumption and domestic/business utilization.

In desalination, we use reverse osmosis technology to split water molecules from seawater. Water from the ocean is forced through thousands of tightly wrapped, semipermeable membranes under very high pressure. The membranes allow the smaller water molecules to pass through, leaving salt and other impurities behind.
