FERTILIZER

Fertilizer Industry

The mission of the fertilizer industry is to feed the world — because without modern fertilizers, the global population as we know it could not be sustained. Farmers today are able to meet rising food demands largely due to fertilizers. In fact, half of all food consumed worldwide is produced with the help of fertilizers.

The fertilizer industry is made up of organizations like us that span the entire supply chain — from production to distribution to retail — all working together to deliver fertilizer to farmers safely, efficiently, and sustainably. Multiline is one of the leading producers of nitrogen and phosphate fertilizers. Micronutrients may seem less important, but they are essential. Though plants need them in trace amounts, they play a vital role in plant structure, vitamin production, and overall yield improvement.

Plants, like humans, require nutrients to grow and reach their full potential. Three of these — carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen — come from air and water. The remaining 14 essential nutrients must come from the soil, forming the basis of modern fertilizers. These nutrients fall into three categories: macronutrients, secondary nutrients, and micronutrients. All must be present in the proper form, amount, time, and place for crops to grow healthy and strong.
